Would it be possible to repurpose a chatter 2 into the controller for a useless box?

It would be easy to replace a button with a SPST for an input.
But can button terminals be turned into outputs to control the servos?
What other sensors could we add via breakout boards?

The short answer is no.

The long answer is no because the chatters uses two 74hc165 shift registers to turn the 16 pins of the buttons into one pin on the ESP-32.
