I recently unboxed two new Chatter 2.0 devices, only to find one had a cracked LCD. While CircuitMess was amazing and sent a replacement immediately, it felt wrong to just toss a perfectly functional LoRA transmitter in the trash.
Instead of recycling it, I decided to give it a second life as a dedicated headless device.
You remote control the chatter with your phone browser.
If you have a Chatter with a busted screen, don’t scrap it—repurpose it! Here is how…
Click on Code and Download Zip …
Start with the Setup.md file (I’m on Windows, sorry Mac users)
Essentially, You’ll run Arduino IDE → Open the Chatter-Firmware.ino file
Pick the Chatter 2.0 device and Upload.
Then you need to upload the data files (Profile Pics and Memes) by using esptool
To Use:
Connect to the Wifi - Chatter-XXXX
Default password: chatterwifi
Then open your browser to http://192.168.4.1
