Artemins Watch Update firmware timeout

Hi,
On the CircuitBlocks web version, trying to restore firmware, upload my own firmware, or install MicroPython all results in a timeout message and cannot be completed.
Previously, I used the Arduino IDE for development. Could something have gone wrong? At the moment, the watch is running the default firmware and functions normally.
Thank you so much!

Hello!
Welcome to the Circuitmess community! Just check these things to make sure everything is alright!

Are you connecting trough a USB Hub? Just know that some hubs dont work on code.circuitmess.com and you cant flash the firmware if its connected trough a hub. Try this!

Use a different cable
Why: Sometimes a cable fails and cant work with code.circuitmess.com

Try connecting to a different USB
Why: The USB sometimes cant work with code.circuitmess.com

If you tried all my steps then wait for tommorow where you can get real professional help by the experts at Circuitmess!

Hello,

This issue is most likely related to the Artemis being in sleep mode during the USB connection or flashing process . Artemis must be awake when the USB cable is plugged in and must remain awake for the entire flashing process (firmware restore, custom firmware upload, or MicroPython install).

Please try the following:

  1. Power on Artemis normally.
  2. Go to Settings and set Auto Sleep Timeout to OFF
  3. With Artemis fully awake, connect it directly to your computer via USB (avoid hubs).
  4. Proceed with flashing via the CircuitBlocks web interface.

If Artemis enters sleep mode at any point during flashing, the process can time out even though the default firmware continues to run normally.

Let us know if this resolves the issue or if you need further help.

Best regards,
Ana
