@8bitRobot Iām not sure what āloose driversā means, but weāve put a lot of effort into making MAKERphoneās software as good as we could and weāre patching it regularly as well.
If youāve bought the assembled unit, of course you wonāt be required to do manual rework or assembly.

Did you install Arduino IDE drivers for Ringo? I will need to see what does āSerialā say when you turn on the phone so we can check out whether is Network board working properly or not.
Are you familiar with the Serial option in the Arduino IDE or do you need a guide?

I see that your CSQ is 99 at the beginning - it means that something is possibly either not connected properly or broken from the components that are trying to connect to the network.
That is probably the reason that you cannot get the signal.
Can you please go to the Settings -> About & Update -> SIM Module Debug, so we can see if the phone recongises any carriers?

Whose SIM card are you trying to use?
This shows that the module is doing its job of finding the networks, now itās just a problem of connecting to them.

I seem to have the same exact problem as the poster. However, you privately messaged him. Did he get his Ringo to work? If not, I may never get service.

I was told to ship it back but DHLās office timings donāt work for me and theyāre not open on weekends. I had high hopes for Ringo.

The phone companies are blaming the phone, and then they blame my location. They literally couldnāt get it to work in person.
The only thing I can say is signal. I got 15/100. Itās enough to initiate a call, but not reach the destination. How many bars did you get when you read?

You can still sending to us using any other post office, there is no problem with that!
Weāre still going to repair it for you free of charge and return it, we just cannot pay the bill of you shipping it to us.
This deal with DHL was a thing weāre doing to make this whole thing of repairing the device completely free for our customers. We just cannot make deal with every shipping company in the world so we did it with one that covers pretty much everything.
Sorry if you feel that way about Ringo, but we can always fix the problem and send it back to you. Feel free to send it any way you can at any time.
@8bitRobot If there is a signal, that means that it works. The strength of the signal is not something that we can affect in any way. Everything works great for the vast majority of our customers so I guess it must be either a hardware or a network problem.
And since youāre getting at least some signal, that means that the hardware is functional.
Of course weāre still trying to get to the bottom of this since every customer is important for us, but every case is so specific that we just donāt have an immediate solution for everyone.

I came to the conclusion last night that it wasnāt a hardware problem. I believe that the light signal means that it works. I donāt think itās the phone specifically.
I decided to pay a visit to my local tower this afternoon. I got ā25ā which doubled the usual signal. While driving around, the signal gradually lowered, but I could not make one call.
I think that leaves only two problems left on our list. It is either too low to make a call, or it is TMobile - unable to accept a 4G signal from a weak Arduino. I canāt remember hearing a success story from the 4G-Tmobile crowd. I can recall a few 2G success stories for our young boy, Ringo.
I am not discontent with Ringo. My overall interest is to access the controller. I am looking forward to such a device like Ringo without a phone in the future. My father wanted me to have a phone to call him. Thatās why this interests me.

I have a 4G board headed my way from Croatia. Itās made it as far as Queens, NY, but is still on a slowboat within the USPS. When I get it, I plan to test it with Ting/T-Mobile (attempting 4G connection at 700MHz Band 12), and perhaps with Verizon (I have an inactive SIM card, but at least I would think it would connect me to Verizon plan sales to try to set up the card.)
What Iām afraid of is that the 4G board will connect with Ting/T-Mobile via weak/overloaded GSM (2G) and will not try to do VoLTE on the 4G Band 12 signal; and Iām also afraid it will fail miserably with Verizon (even though it will show a strong 4G signal) because it wonāt try to do VoLTE and will be unable to fall back to CDMA (2G) because the module cannot do CDMA. Iām certainly hoping (since Albert says the 4G card has been tested in the USA with Verizon) that neither of these negative outcomes occurs, but rather in both cases the call goes through using VoLTE. If it does, then your problems are unexplained; if it doesnāt then Iāll be in the same boat as you folksā¦
Time will tell - maybe a couple more days and it will be in my hands.
Ting told me that the company will not support 4G because TMobile wonāt let them. I donāt know if thatās just my area or a miscommunication. Iād like to know if you ever get 4G with your Ringo.

Youāll never get GSM out of Verizon, only CDMA (2G/3G) and LTE (4G). Thatās why if it works with Verizon, it must be using 4G and VoLTE. Albert says itās been tested with Verizon in the USA and it works. Iām anxious to see if thatās really the case. Verizon SIM cards are for 4G only; CDMA phones do not use a SIM card - the account is married to the phone itself.
If Ting wonāt support 4G, then Ting really sold Circuitmess a bill-of-goods!!
Fortunately, I also have a genuine T-Mobile SIM card I can try 4G with. Itās not activated but does connect to T-Mobile sales.
