Servo Calibration Rover

Hi,

Building the Mars Rover I may have encountered a Problem. At a certain point it says, connect Servo to the Rover (Servo 2) for Zeroing. When connecting properly and turning the Rover on, the Rover says something and lights are flashing. So far so good.

But the connected Servo ist only constantly „humming“, not very loud but the gears are not turning at all. Is this correct behaviour?

Hi, I’m having the same issue. I even mounted the armature and turned it slightly like he does in the video. It still doesn’t move and only hums. I tried all 3 servo motors, same issue. 1 servo motor won’t even turn with the armature connected.

I think they are all defective given that 1 won’t even turn. Another was able to turn with less resistance. When I hooked it up, it hummed, I helped it a little with a push and it calibrated. It’s not supposed to need a push.

They seem to be bound up and defective. I’ve sent support a separate email. I’ll see what they say and then cross post here.

So happy to not be alone with this, although i‘m sad for you. But know we know we are not alone and there have to be more people with the same issue.

Reached out to them via „Contact us“ on the Website but with no response yet. Will also keep you updated :slightly_smiling_face:

Same thing happened to us while building. The servos would only move to the correct position if you pushed them a bit, then snapping to the right position.

Unfortunately we’ve finished the build and the behavior persists. Nothing will move until you push it a little and then it jumps to the correct position.

My kids are very disappointed.

Possibly separate issues, but the camera does not work, and only 1 side of the drive wheels works.

I’ve been emailing back and forth with Customer Service. So far ive had to send a video of the servo motor not functioning and a photo of the ESP chip for some reason. Thye do seem like they are willing to resolve if you start a dialog with them directly.

That sounds annoying… Used the contact form 7 days ago but no response at all. It shouldnt be this complicated as it doesnt Seem uncommon

Email them at contact@circuitmess.com.

They respond to that.

Good News! Had a very good conversation with Andrea from Circuitmess and finally I went to turn the gear of the servo „forcefully“ by hand. I did that before but very cautious and now I really turned it back and forth couple times. And then: it turned by itself a quarter turn and stopped buzzing :slightly_smiling_face:

Hopes are high that Everything is fine now and I will continue Building. Still a bit concerned about the gears beeing too tight but youll Never know…
